Executive Assistant

Ruwie Vazquez-Juarez has served the Gulf States Conference since 2010, beginning in the Hispanic and youth ministries departments. In 2011, she transferred over to assist our conference administration and later joined the treasury and trust services department in 2015. Currently her ministry in Gulf States consists of providing administrative support to the treasurer, Gwen Speak, and our local churches regarding Adventist Risk Management; assisting with insurance applications and claims. Ruwie also provides technical support and training for our Spanish-speaking treasurers using the LUCIS software. She shares stewardship communications with our local churches as well.

In addition to supporting the treasury department, Ruwie assists the trust director, David Sigamani. She completed her trust certification in 2015 and it has been a privilege for her to succor our church members in the communication and finalization of their estate planning documents. We are pleased to carry a Level-A Accreditation for the past 6 years.

Lastly, Ruwie also provides support to the executive secretary, Martin Fancher in the sale and purchase of properties. Caring for property records and communicating tax issues with local churches. She is a Notary Public for the State of Alabama, assisting in the notarization of legal documents for the conference. Ruwie also serves as custodian for conference service records and assists our employees when they are ready to retire from denominational employment. She also assists with requests for southern union revolving fund applications for church loans, personal or entity demand Notes.

Gulf States is home for Ruwie, her husband Juan, and two children. She enjoys spending time with her immediate and church family, listening to music, and reading. She felt the calling to serve others in college changing her major to office administration. This degree provided the organization tools, project management, and techniques to offer support to supervisors. Romans 12:11 reminds us, “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.”
